Lady-T:
Thanks for all the info.  It is very helpful to have resources.  Most of the ones I have found are expensive, so always
on the lookout for reasonable and "local" products.
Did you know about the Ham Orchards in Terrell, TX ?  It is a peach orchard that picks the fruit daily as it ripens and
sells it at a little farm stand.  They also have some berry patches that you can pick your own.  I love to get the ripe
fruit and make dehydrated fruit for my storage.  It is such a treat to eat the fresh fruit that is juicy and sweet, not
like the cardboard that doesn't even have a fruit fragrance in the market.  If you would like to have more info let
me know.
Thanks again,
Old Timer

Hurricane Lamps and More One of the lamps has a cooking hob on top and it comes with a small cookset. I'm up for two of the biggie lamps that burn for 30 hours each at 12 candle power.

I have set up a wiki to organize and summarize much of this preparation information (which otherwise
is hard to find because it is spread out over many different posts).

Please consider volunteering your time and expertise at:

I hope this is the proper place to put this:  I found a website called An American Footprint.
http://www.anamericanfootprint.com/
This is an upstart web site that is trying to gather American Made Products...has a forum and a list.  Please visit and submit products goods and services still made in America.  Even though the folks there are not complete doomers, I suspect they have experienced and awakening and truly want to contribute.  Thanks ahead of time.  I blogged about them today.

http://conchacastaneda.blogspot.com  and in my blog is a active link.

Home made waterproof matches

We did something like this when we were young lads to provide waterproofed matches for use in the field or when hillwalking. I always knew being a redneck would eventually have its rewards... Cool

I have no idea if this will be of use to anyone, to my mind it seems to contain a lot of irrelevant stuff, but posting on the off chance someone finds it of use.
