I'm not going to bother quoting it. If you're concerned about this stuff, this is a definite must-read:

Man, this stuff is *nasty* with a captial NAS.

Where I live, we recently managed to defeat a tower project. There is currently next to no cell phone coverage here (hallelujah!). I'm afraid it's just a matter of time, but it was satisfying nonetheless.

Health dangers aside, god save me from being in the vicinity of *one more* absurd and useless hollered conversation...

'HEY. HI. WHERE ARE YOU? CAN YOU HEAR ME? I'M ON THE BUS. CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? HOW ABOUT NOW? IS THIS BETTER?'

Crikey.

Cell Phone Tower locator:

http://www.cellreception.com/towers/?rfp=dta

There is a thing down the street from here, about a 5 minute walk from my apartment, that looks like a cell phone tower but is not found on the above map.

I read that thing yesterday too.  Criminey, what next.  My husband and I discussed getting a phone with a receiver cord, and maybe stapling hardware mesh all over the house if the wimaxes start going up.  Tinfoil hats are starting to make sense.

In Phoenix they are making cell phone towers look like palm trees.  The first time I saw one, I just knew what it was.

I turned off the wifi in my house this summer, will be replacing the phone with a corded one once I get my office finished up.

I can still turn it on if needed, but the wireless stuff is not needed 24/7.

I worked with radio frequencies for 3-4 years.  The rule in the office was, if you could slightly hear or even "feel" the vibrations, you were justified in walking over to the testing site's office and telling them to "cut the shit".

If you live/work near a tower - MOVE AWAY.

Sound frequency and EMF can/will mess you up. MOVE AWAY.

I moved 15 miles away and I feel a thousand times better.

GET AWAY.

Bummer.

I love my cell phone.  I'm not obnoxious with it.  I'm not of "those people".  I don't talk at the checkout line of the grocery store.  It's never gone off at a meeting or a movie theater or in a restaurant.  I turn it off when I don't want to talk.  I use a headset if I know I'll talk more than a few minutes.   It works for me, not the other way around.

The sheer quantity of time I spent on a cordless phone (old school type) in middle-school/high-school pretty much guarantees I'm dead anyhow.  And the sheer quantity of solar radiation my skin's absorbed from many many summers of outdoor work also basically guarantee my early demise.  So many ways to die.

Either way, rolling blackouts and cell towers don't mix.  Soon enough.

There is so much RF in the air -everywhere- that if it had color you would not be able to see your hand twelve inches from your face. --------It's been that way since before the cell phone or wifi.-------

I'm confused here. We've got cell towers we know to avoid. With the exception of the ones that are disguised, we can usually spot them and (if possible) move away.

But how do we avoid radio frequencies?

FWIW, I don't own a cell phone or a microwave. Never have. Unfortunately, I suppose I'm still exposed to all the radiation from everybody else's cell phone.

I've also started unplugging everything in my apt except the fridge before going to sleep. (This saves energy too) I can't get away from the 'puter for obvious reasons although I can probably cut down a bit on discretionary use.

Anybody know what type of EMF meter is the best? There are so many and so many of them seem to be marketed by semi-huksters who have the EMF meter on sale next to some sort of pendant or black box that will ward off leprechauns. Huh

Tinfoil.  Silly.

Remember that intensity decreases with the square of distance.
