For a break, mental well being, time to recharge, etc. How many of you take a day, week, whatever away from the doom. What brings you back if you take a break?
Is the Doom kind of like watching a car accident, etc. knowing its about to happen.

I take a break now n then, but always come back. The MSM is way too controlled to let us know whats going on, have to read the off side stuff to really know. LATOC is where I get the intel on whats going on.

I can take a break until one or more of the following occurs:

I see a car
I see a gas station
I walk past a television turned to the news
I turn on the radio
I go to work
I wake up seeing piles of ammo all over my bedroom
I take my evening ablution and look at the toilet paper
I light a cigarette
I touch my computer
I turn on a light

All doom, all the time, Baby!

That's how I roll  Cheesy

If you're asking this question, you need to at least take a one to two day break.  Trust your brain when it says "I'm spending waaaay to much time here".

However, if you're just going to go and blow your time playing Halo 3, reading MSM news, or watching LOST, then you'd better get your ass back in here and collect some useful information.

Time off should be spent with family (only the non-annoying members), community (if you actually like people), and, most importantly  -  sitting in silence.  I try to get in at least 20 minutes of silence every day.  Makes a huge difference.

To answer your question - Yeah, I'll take a break..... when I'm in the woods and not near the computer..... or the grid has been shut down..... or my son is walking around with a four-day-old diaper hanging around his ankles covered in crap and emaciated from my neglect.

I'm just kidding... but not really.

I was disconnected from the Net for most of the time between mid-August and mid-September.  It was nice, visiting and helping friends.  But I was still thinking doomer-style, trying not to waste so much as a morsel of food, wondering how I'd do things when the power goes out.  Oddly enough, I'm not tempted to spend as much time on here, because there's not that much that's interesting going on (or it's stuff that was interesting til we discussed it too much, and now newercomers are rehashing it yet again).  I go through the new topics and just get bored.  Thankfully I've got lots of reading to catch up on.

Anyone want to help 1234 come up with a more imaginative username?  How about a Post that seeks to provide others with helpful information instead of making them feel as if something is wrong with them?

uh, what I meant to say is:

When I feel that I've been spending too much time here and need to recharge the ole' battrees, I just head up into the forest and imagine that I'm in the Scandanavyan wilderness hunting mythical green creatures accompanied only by my trusty hound "Face Eater", my reliable arquebus, a package of cheetoes, and some toilet paper (cause I know I'm gonna run into some shitstains).

That usually makes me feel better.

What about you 1234?

Remember that song from Sesame St?

Have you ever set in traffic at a light and watched the hundreds of cars making their way through or past and think " They are all sheeple" they do not have a clue? It's the realization and firm belief of the negative future that brings me back, everyday. There are tons of things I enjoy doing and many are done on the computer, yet I visit this site early in the morning 1-4 am, and get the latest............. Bruce
