i highly recommend the movie"testament"from 1983 about nuclear holocaust

almost no special effects +
the camera angle doesn't change every 0.08 seconds but it's still really well done

be prepared for unhappy ending

cheers

Tayloer82:

I've seen it. Recently in fact.

I Watched Threads, Testament and 'The day after'

Threads is a British movie, so UK-centric.
What is interesting about it is that is also deals with the long-term aftermath.

Workcamps, Martial law and a very low life expectancy.

Testament is excellent imo as well, because it focuses not on the military toll, but very detailed on the effect on average people.

'The day after' is pretty typical for these types of movies, and imo the weakest story wise out of the lot.

I would recommend seeing them all. I downloaded them from some P2P network.

Seen Threads and the Day after but not Testiment. Sounds like a pretty good one to watch.
I like unhappy endings they tend to be more realistic.
For example anyone here watch "The Sum of All Fears?" with Ben Afflick? Remeber he not onbly goes right into the after effect of a nuke bomb but he and the President lives 6 months later..I dont if it was just me..but realistic the dude would have died from radiation poison same with President and Bens girlfriend....to me that was fairy tale movie.

I was gutted. The atomic explosion and the aftermath weren't covered enough for my taste.

That whole movie was the biggest let down in all the Tom Clancey based movies. They changed so much of the story, and took it out of the series timeline so it was pretty much unrecognizable to anyone who read the book. Sum of All Fears ( the book) was a great read. The movie sucked rocks. As for the effects, it was supposed to be a fizzle with a final explosion of approx 11KT, (at least thats what the book had) so the effects werent' supposed to be the end of the world stuff we associate with Abomb explosions.
