1.2 million jobless workers will become ineligible for federal unemployment benefits in March unless Congress extends the unemployment safety net programs from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). By June, this number will swell to nearly 5 million unemployed workers nationally who will be left without any jobless benefits.
...
Currently, 5.6 million people are accessing one of the federal extensions (34-53 weeks of Emergency Unemployment Compensation; 13-20 weeks of Extended Benefits, a program normally funded 50 percent by the states).

Extend and pretend for as long as they possibly can. When the unemployment teat runs dry and a large swath of the populace can no longer economically shelter-in-place, this ride will get really bumpy.

I wonder if at some point that they set a max rate or a flat rate on unemployment benefits, say $150.00 a week max for all who are on unemployment?

The same crap happened in the final days of Rome.  Daily the government went out and threw money and food on the streets to keep the seething desperate crowds placated another day.

That wont bother me any, I get $161. right now, and thats before taxes......
I'm pleased as punch just to get that, since finding a job has been hopeless for me I will take whatever I can get.

This should definitely not undermine the Lloyd Blankfein's $100 million dollar bonus.

This is hyper-inflation people so prepare. This isn't a game anymore, the govn't can say they will renew benefits, but it's on top of everything else, the money won't hold it's value. Check out John Williams if you must, just google. We are going down another leg right now. Sad what is happening to this country and the people, but the answers aren't seen as obvious, so prepare.

I hope they keep extending. As I am one of them.

Just picture 5 million broke, hungry, pissed off people. IN SUMMER. This country would burn. And the violence would not be directed where it should be. At banks. At the governments. It would just be chaos. Probably racial. With the flames fanned by the Tea Party morons. And Rush. And Beck.

How can this be?  You guys need to give more to the banks, they'll give loans to small businesses!  ... what?... you've done that?  Well maybe you can try to buy more cars or something...
