Yea, i noticed i went to sleep and the price was $2.99 at the cheap station down the street. Woke up and it was $3.03. Seeing Sacramento is usually a little cheaper, it looks like we have room to grow.

Gas just jumped $.20 overnight here in Sacramento. It's now at $3.23.9 at the CHEAP pumps!

OK, a coworker paid 9 cents less about two hours ago so it wasnt as big a jump as I first stated.  I will continue this on the proper thread that was just bumped up.

Oil's off to another good start, $88 a barrel.  Terrifying that LESS THAN A MONTH AGO we were wondering if oil was going to break EIGHTY DOLLARS.

Christ we're so screwed.

A hundred by New Year's, you think?

If the Turks jump in to Iraq, you can count on it.

If it is ONLY $100 a barrel when the turks jump in, we should count ourselves VERY lucky.

For the first in months CNN had headlines about the price of crude oil getting to $88 a barrel this morning.  I wasn't surprised, but it's obvious alot of people will be.  It's funny how I've been talking about this kind of thing happening to people I know for over a year, yet none I've talked to have really 'gotten it'.  Peak Oil is happening now, not tomorrow, next year, not five years from now.  Yet they all go on their merry way thinking they have time.

Times up, people.

Another $.20 a barrel and we'll set yet another new record: $89 a barrel.

If it continues up at this rate, it will be $100 by the middle of next week.

And since I believe one barrel of oil is transformed into about 19.5 gallons of gas, we'll be looking at $5.00 per gallon in the very near future.

Bloomberg has oil starting the day at $89.80. It should have no trouble making up the twenty cents before it has its second cup of coffee. As for $5 gas, Willow, someone here on this forum predicted that the US five dollar bill will become known as the "gallon bill", as that's all it will buy. (If we're lucky.)

Now, with oil at $90, The Big Question: Will we see a Benjie a Barrel by Turkey Day ($100 by late November)?

It does seem possible.
