Just another source.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/16/business/worldbusiness/16cnd-oil.html?hp

"Oil futures rose above $88 a barrel in New York trading today, their highest level ever, because of unrest in the Middle East.
Crude oil for November delivery rose as much as $2.07 to $88.20 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange during midday trading after jumping nearly 3 percent yesterday. Oil futures, which have gained $9 in the past six trading sessions, are up more than 43 percent this year.
On an inflation-adjusted basis, today’s prices are getting close to records reached in the early 1980s when an energy crisis and the Iranian revolution pushed oil prices up to about $100 in today’s money."

Today, I'm just not ok with seeing this sort of thing.  I know, I know, its bound to happen...  But, I just got a good job and I'm looking at apartments...  And this makes me sound so whiny and in denial and I'm not really like that.
UGH.

"...because of unrest in the Middle East."

Well, there's a novel excuse. You'd think that by now we'd all be use to the unrest in the Middle East. So help me out here: When has there NOT been unrest in the Middle East? I guess it's just a standard excuse to use when you don't want to mention peak oil and M. K. Hubbert. Of course, if peace were to suddenly break out in the ME, what would they blame the price of oil on then, I wonder?

Not that they're ever likely to have THAT problem.

As do I...

Yet I can imagine a time when we will disbelieve we ever would.

This one aint bad but you have to refresh http://www.oil-price.net/

Just a note, it wont be to bad even if oil hits $150 PB, there will always be a significant delay in economic downturn, reason why you may ask? Because sheeple will just ride the extra debt on their frikkin credit cards of course!

Here's a very cool way to watch the latest oil prices: http://widgets.yahoo.com/gallery/?search=oil

You have to install the Yahoo widget program, but it's very lightweight and is constantly updated. Nice image, too!

Not sure Fred, I was lurking around some Electric vehicle forum. Exceptionally nice guy he is too, I sent him 20 bucks via paypal as he was cash strapped regarding his project, he was overwhelmed so we started talking. What do you think about the EV's Fred? I was following a Toyota Rav4 on ebay, the purpose built full electric. It sold on auction for $41 000 US, not bad for a second handy. And the car companys say there is no market for EV's??? FCKIUNG BUSLHIT

We had a doco on tv a while ago about a chick who owned one of these, she had some solar cells on her roof, all in all it set her back a whole $2.65 per month in electricity!!!!! That is in California, you have to see who killed the electric car. You then start to understand how stupid the human race really is (majoritively speaking)..................(did I spell that right) Huh

I love electric car there faster ,better and 90% energie efficiant compare to ice at 30/40% the most .So every dollar of gas you spend only 30 cent actuly get you somewhere!

Today we're getting a tug-of-war between the imploding economy and Peak Oil. Early in the day oil hit $89 as Turkey ok'd military action in oil rich Kurdistan. Then we got all the negative housing starts data, negative inflation data, and negative Federal Reserve comments. Right now imploding economy is winning as oil has backed down $2 from its price early this morning.

So there you have it. We no longer can have both a healthy growing economy and stable oil prices. After 2010 we'll have neither.

Gas just jumped $.20 overnight here in Sacramento. It's now at $3.23.9 at the CHEAP pumps!

That's a HUGE jump, Paland. We've been stable here (Clearwater, Florida) for weeks at about $2.75/9. I suspect if Turkey goes after the Kurds we may see gas prices rise a bit.

(How's that for subtle understatement?)
