Here's a story from the local newspaper for the town where I grew up:

http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,26379109-27197,00.html

Doesn't really tell us anything we don't already know, but it's good to see recognition of the problem of peak oil and criticism of the government for not doing jack-shit about it.

Yep, definitely.  It's a (crummy) tabloid with a daily circulation of 225,000.  According to Wikipedia that makes it the fourth-highest newspaper, in terms of circulation, in Australia.

Also, it's another Murdoch rag.

My favorite line from the whole article:

"The most basic logic should tell us we can't continue to increase the exploitation of a finite resource indefinitely."

I think I am going to steal it for my sig line.

Seriously, that such an article is appearing in a paper with a circulation of 225K is really disturbing.

That is how I came to believe in PO:  That so many people from such different social/cultural/economic/political orientations came to the same conclusion.

Must be true.

We are SOOOOOOO SCREWWWWWED.
