Sweet, didn't know I could edit this. I changed some of the more offensive lines, while still keeping it as close to the original as I could:

To quickly sum up the credentials of our family organization, let me say that we employ over 1,000 people, my Grandfather was asked to run in the '72 national election in lieu of Stanfield and declined the offer (some say due to his personal friendship with Pierre Trudeau), our group of companies has been growing at a pace of 6-10% annually, almost every year, for 62 years. Our asset base and revenues dwarf some of the companies on the FP 500, yet very few people know our name, and we like it that way. You might say we have been a part of the Canadian "Elite" (maybe top 1% income earners) since the 1940's.

I am afraid.

I am afraid that the BS "conspiracy theorists" have so many people believing their garbage, that my family will be hunted down and killed, or worse, simply for being successful. The economic collapse has darkened the mood of the entire western world. What will happen when stage 2 comes into effect? I don’t know, but I speculate on it for hours every day.

(Note to Canadians: Go on the CBC news website, and leave a comment at the bottom of any financial article. Leave a post along the lines of “The rich are stealing from the poor, and leaving us impoverished” or something similar and then sit back and watch the “Thumbs Up” counter explode... People are even more pissed than Kunstler thinks.)

I'd like to compare my situation here to that of "Preppers", because I could not find a better forum to post this. Do you fear being raided in a collapse? I bet you do. Imagine putting a giant billboard on your home that reads: “Supplies Inside”, in the event of a collapse.

That’s what we have. A rock mansion on the water IS a bulls eye for MZB’s and Revolutionaries alike. Now imagine you are in your mid-20’s and cannot convince the parents (monetary decision-makers) to do a damned thing. My family doesn’t like to think about hordes of people kicking down the door and murdering us with smiles on their faces. Nor do I really, but it never leaves my mind.

If you think that YOU, the average doomer/prepper, is in trouble, then I say YOU'LL BE A SECONDARY TARGET AT MOST... you have no idea what kind of danger lurks in the future for people like me. All of this for no reason other than general rage from have-nots towards the haves. That rage will intensify and duplicate every time the economy plunges further. It will feed the egos of the many so-called “prophets” like Gerald Celente, who call for an economic collapse for thirty straight years, and then claim they saw THIS ONE coming. It’s total idiocy in my mind. Half of doomers think this economic collapse was “pre-planned” by the rich to transfer the rest of the wealth from the middle class to the rich.  If you believe that, you are likely to be one of the revolutionaries that I’m picking off from behind my 6-inch rock walls (and I can hit a pop can at 150 meters with open sights) before they kill me. There is no NWO, Illuminati, Bilderberg Group, or any other group secretly running the world, or at least not Canada. There are only rich families looking out for their children’s interest, just like you would be.
Looking destitute will be the most important survival tactic in the world for a prepper, so learn to act penniless (Cause I am!). i'll beg for food, even with a a 24 month supply stashed at home. Believe me, your neighbours will notice whether or not you’ve been out looking for food. And most importantly, don’t buy into the CRAP about rich people transferring your wealth to themselves, it is ALL PURE HYSTERIA. The rich generally deserve what they have, in that they should be able to keep what they earn, and pass it on if they wish. They don’t steal from you. And they certainly don’t wish to impoverish you.

The leaders of a revolution always become the new rulers under the new government. They simply used you to fight, then took wealth and power from those they were jealous of. It’s been done 1,000 times in the past, and will be done 1,000 times in the future.

What bothers me most about conspiracy theorists is their self-deluded thinking. They blab about their esoteric knowledge and their esoteric ability to spot patterns. They rail against the “Sheeple” for believing everything they read, but then guess what? Then they log onto Infowars, or PrisonPlanet, or Globalresearch.ca and believe any pile of shit thrown at them. Maybe they should have their noses checked, as well as their heads?

(On a much friendlier note, I really like this forum, and will have many more essays and articles to come. I believe I can contribute a fresh perspective!)

Hey, nice!

You're right, everyone will have to deal with similar things, and frankly, given a general societal collapse, many of us here will find ourselves smack in the middle of the nouveau riche, given our preparations and assumed landbases.  So we'd be wise to look at it from such a perspective: the target.

Reality comes from the perception of your perspective, doesn't it.

Got that "act" down pat, trust me. As for your fresh perspective? probably not going to be.

I have this funny feeling, its like looking at a freshly baked pristine apple pie.  I want to tear into it, but I don't know if I'm hungry enough to eat the entire thing, yet if I have just one slice, I know I'll want a second, next thing I know I will have over eaten and will feel guilty.

Rarn, sweetie. Just because you have MORE to lose when you lose everything doesn't mean that you are any worse off than the average doomer who loses everything. If you keep that up, then no, people aren't going to think your attitude is fresh.

However, up to that point, I think you had a very good post going. And I'm sure there'll be more. We'd just appreciate some thought going into how far above the rest of us it might sound like you're presenting yourself. Ya know?

rarn80,

Its the oldest law, survival of the fittest, product of human evolution, that's all.  Competition.  Money doesn't change that or insulate you from that.  Celente isn't to blame.  It's in our genome.  That's what makes everything fair.  Nothing is given in life.  Not even status.

rarn80,
Your post sounds suspiciously like whining. What are you looking for, sympathy? If you don't like your situation then do something about it.

I love it.

Richy Rich telling the rest of us not to believe all the bullshit about the rich pillaging the poor. I don't know whether to laff or puke.

I'm quite sure that you and your particular family aren't theives. Your line of business is probably just well run, and makes a decent profit. Good for you. If you are treating your employees in a decent manner, like family instead of pencils n paperclips then I salute you. There are a lot of CEOs out there who do screw over their employees. Hell I work for a company that has a CEO who does just that. The way he screws over his people will come back to haunt him.

It's the other fuckers that come up with the ponzi schemes that are going to be feeling the pointy end of the spear first. If you don't believe that there are people out there actively working on schemes to seperate the lower class from their money or to make a killing at the expense of others, then I pity you. There are lots of them, and it happens every friggin day. Todays rich are like the old nobility. They like it on top and will do anything to stay there. Others want to get on top and will do anything they can to get there. The rest of us without the "fuck over your granny for a buck" gene are just sheep to be shorn in their eyes.

As for sitting in your stone mansion picking off the revolutionaries, good luck. Ever heard of a siege?
