manager Ben Flanner and New York Botanical Garden educational director
Annie Novak started planting a whole salad full of veggie crops atop a former
bagel factory in April.

No numbers at all.  How many square feet?  How much stuff is grow?  How much does it cost?  How many truckloads of soil are on that roof, and where did it come from? 

How long until the plant roots break through the roof?

I would have no idea about the roof structure or production.  This could be found by contacting the urban farmers.  The availability of urban farming raw materials is huge.  These materials range from planting boxes (diesel equipment shipping crates) to zoo doo.   

From experience, our urban 'hood harvest was amazing.  At the moment, I'm continuing with the canning.  When the mountain doomsted is fully operational, It almost seems like I'll need a food processing factory and hired help!
