I'm not sure if this has been posted anywhere already, I apologize if it has.  This presentation has some great data, graphs, and information on the relationship between EROI, peak oil and the financial crisis and economic growth. Seems pretty straightforward and understandable in a way that someone new to the idea could begin to understand:

lives and economy are entirely dependent on fossil fuel

It would be an enormous oversimplification to say that oil price 'caused' the world recession,
but the fact that the price spike and the economic crisis occurred at the same time is hardly meaningless coincidence.

Slides 28 and 28 are the scary ones. I think the last slide is optimistic, but what do I know?
