Is there any method you find particularly useful to deal with anxiety. I have had a lot of trouble sleeping lately, which has probably added to my anxiety in a positive feedback loop.

I feel as though I really can't find a way out of the coming collapse, simply because I became peak-oil aware much too late in the game. I fully accept that a dieoff will likely happen, although I am unsure of the timing and magnitude. My other fear is the dieoff will cause resource wars, and I will have to join the army or something in a few years.

Any help would be awesome guys!

For me, avoidance.

I try not to think about it too much.  Usually, this comes in the form of me throwing myself into as much work overtime as possible.  I don't think about doom or commodity shortages or financial crises when I'm running around at work.  At least, I don't think about it as much..

Cultivating a vegetable and fruit garden can help, as can organising and increasing your preps. Otherwise, for me, it's mainly a matter of putting up with it.

Deep breathing, and cultivating a Zen-like sense of detachment.

spend some time living with the bare minimum , live without electricity or heating sleep rough, do the sort of hard physical work you expect to do after peak .
live in a tent or a caravan, or a shack you build, camp out in snow .
if your worried about violence do some boxing get a job doing security work

I dont worry because Ive had people try to kill me , Ive had serious injurys , Ive lived for years in a tent then in a caravan , Ive grown all my own food and none of thats that bad .

visiting someone in a hospice can help

Different things at different times
Sometimes deep breathing or meditation
Sometimes exercise
Sometimes a project - getting focused on something else
Sometimes journaling about whatever is upsetting me
Sometimes talking it out with a friend
But most of the time breathing deeply to calm myself down works - when  my breathing is slow and tranquil - my thoughts become slow and tranquil

It's very difficult, and all of us go through it in spasms, especially in the first year or so. Keeping busy helps. So does doing something useful like digging the garden. I agree with whoever said volunteer at a hospice. Seeing that zillions of people are worse off than you are helps. The food bank is my bag. You know that is useful work.

Vision -Master has the right idea, go natural. Grin
Personally, I draw or paint. Appreciate everyday I wake up and know that I can only do so much. Nobody really knows what can happen at any given moment in time. A person could get hit by a bus crossing the street. Try not to dwell.

P.S.
making a list of things I CAN do something about helps, too
Usually when I am anxious - I am dwelling on the things I can't do anything about
So listing what I CAN do helps - and then DO them!

it's ok. this is going to take some time to unwind and there is a lot to be said for just dumb luck as far as surviving goes.
Some well prepped people aren't going to make it because of the luck of the draw, and likewise, some marginally prepped people are going to do very well.
Take your time, and just keep adding to your preps as you can.
