Is hell very expensive?  I can't afford much and cheap is good.  Also, do they have running water?

We could run assault drills on the Walmart headquarters for entertainment, Bentonville it is.  Smiley

Ah, that's the hell he was talking about.  Gee whiz, it is near him.   I'll bet they do have running water.

How about this winter in Hawaii?  There are hotels here, too, but I also have camping (with a bathroom) available.  Winter solstice?  Or later, when SAD is driving everyone nuts?  Plane fares will never be cheaper.  I can't promise anything about the weather, it's pretty random, but usually nice, and always warmer than places with snow.  And there are plenty bananas.....

Well, I have plenty of space and water, you have to bring your own tent or RV, but the weather is real nice here in East Texas.

It's pretty cheap to get here, either fly into Houston Intercontinental or come down I45 from Dallas.

Come on down, y'all!

You all would certainly be welcome here. I've got a sand beach swimming pond and a good half a square mile to have a picnic in. There's an equipment barn that makes a damn fine drunken party locale. I'm two hundred miles or so from the direct center of the country if it helps any. I was really looking forward to the barn raising so I would love to meet everybody, wherever it is count me in. -James

It would be nice to do it when the weather is a likely to be good.

Jimmy's place is fine with me, too.  Now to pick a date.  Summer solstice is June 21st, a Monday, so why not the weekend of 19th/20th?  I've been wanting to take a road trip.  Maybe I'll just keep on going afterwards, for a visit to my old stomping grounds in NE.

Of course, we all know as doomers that the world may not look the same in 8 months.  It's possible that we may all be able to get there, and then never be able to leave!   Grin  A ready-made doomer commune.

I like any place in the country except the deep south if camping is involved! I've seen bugs the size of Buicks in those southern piney woods.

Kansas would be an easy drive for me from Colorado, so I'm absolutely game.  Cheesy

Well the prettiest weather here is in June, the 1st to the 15th and the worst tornadoes are from the 20th of June to the 15th of July or thereabouts. I'd skip that second window unless you want to take a chance on seeing the prairie from a spinning height.  Cheesy The wind and storms in July can be a fearsome thing, not good for campers. I've never seen early June get too awful, just a thought. -James

Oh shit, I forgot about that Dorothy thingy.  Well, James, since we may be meeting up at your place, could you pick the date?

Well I see the next six months like this. First, I'm going to lose my job, not positive of that but it pretty well plays that way in my mind. Second 'm probably going to end up as an out of towner on highway and bridge projects because that's where the money is right now and the only jobs to be had. So beyond all that if it stays okay for me to be a host I would say early June or the middle of September. Both have their advantages and both avoid the worst heat and storms. No July, no August for sure and May and October are very unpredictable both in temperature and precipitation. That would be my suggestion but any time is okay by me. -James

How kind of so many individuals to offer up their spots for a get-together. Doomers are a very neighborly bunch! Jim is right about early June; it is usually very pretty. (but just in case of trouble, here's a hint, wear layers, lots of layers and maybe even hard hats for the occasional hailstorm and stay near basements at all times, but other than those considerations it's pretty peachy  Tongue)
