What do you ladies think about the idea of the poles actually shifting and flipping?  I am interested in your opinions of this idea.  I just came across this and am dubious, but since i'm not one to ever let a fresh opportunity for worrying about new doom to pass, now there is one more thing to potentially worry about.  What do you think?

I think the fact that the discussion is in the "Women's Issues" forum speaks legions to its legitimacy.

Is "global climate change" a women's issue as well? How about declining tuna yields? Does the fact I don't happen to have a vagina (or the fact I happen to have another type of procreative organ) have any bearing on the trio of aforementioned issues? If so, then I am all ears about the debate. But I am compelled to question its legitimacy as a sex-based issue.

Now don't label me a sexist. I maintain that I am gender neutral - though I do profess a profound weakness for the "fair sex" outside of gender based debate.. It's just that I can't succumb to politically correct gender-aligned psycho-babble when it pertains to issues this grand. If having one or the other of the procreative organs is germane, please do illuminate and profane my utter lack of competence and comprehension. I will tuck tail and whatever else is called for and skitter my profane and unwanted male self to those politically correct nether regions when and if the argument for sex-based competence in these issues is made.

Polar, pole, penis, phallic symbology.
I can understand women being interested in the idea of those shafting shifting around...

teotwawkian -

Roll Eyes seriously, get over it - take a moment to look through what this section of the forum is for, and build a bridge, mate. You've made several assumptions that are dead wrong, and are making an arse of yourself. Sheesh...

As for the pole shifting - from what I understand, it is a regular occurence (historically speaking), and much like the next ice age, we are about due for one.

Dunno what I can do about it, how it will affect things - if anyone has any info to share that would be good Smiley But I put it at the same level as nuclear war. There is only so much I can do about it, and not much that will make a huge difference, luck will play a large part there.

I keep it in the back of my mind, but I don't stress about it much. The poles flipping is probably the least of our problems.

I am pretty curious about it though  Wink

Oh for heaven's sake!  Move it if you like to another forum.

I asked here because I want to know what these particular people who check this forum think, because they are generally an intellegent group of people.  And some of the people who regularly check this forum happen to be intellegent males, lol, who's opinions I value!  Putting it in here just means I tried to avoid having every asshat in the world answering on the other forum.  Oh, well, a troll found his way here, too.  Whatever.

I'm off to do some research.  Some of the sites say that there will be a period of weeks in which things happen, making it seem like disaster could be out-ran potentially.  Hmmm...

And yeah, this to me is kind of in the range of the Yellowstone threat.... not a whole heck of a lot can be done about it, if it happens, we're toast most likely.

So the poles shift; so what?  No one actually uses a compass anyway.  It's not like gravity won't work or something.

What the fuck do sexual organs have to do with discussions in the Women's Forum? Just because somebody brings up a subject that doesn't have something to do with bleeding once a month or dealing with tits post peak doesn't mean it doesn't belong here. JFC. What makes you think women are only going to talk about "sex based issues."  Roll Eyes   Roll Eyes   Roll Eyes

More evidence that TPTB don't control EVERYTHING.  And neither do I.

More evidence that my preps now must include... time to smell the roses, and play silly games with children.  A time to let go of being in control of my destiny, as it were, and enjoy the now.
