this story is the leading headline on the DailyKos right now Shocked

and most of the comments are actually fairly intelligent

more and more people are starting to get it

I don't think they get it
that its probably basically to late to really do
anything about it
but it's a start

That date is a function of consumption.  Put another way; Consumption fell 4 million barrels a day and pushed the decline date back.   There is no reason it can't fall another several million and push it back even further.  Actually, without applying consistent consumption to production it is always a moving target and meaningless.  What it essentially means is we have a cap on economic growth as we know it and the big ball of debt that is the monetary system is going to crash before we ever notice oil problems.  Of course with further demand destruction via economic collapse comes increasing social and political pressures.
