Can there be a how to do thread?  I need an instruction manual for using all the various options for publishing on this site.  I have been here for months and I still do not have a clue as to how to publish a photo.

That is because you are trying to use html code, when you need to be using BB code. Google a BB code manual.

for an image, you simply enclose the url in image tags -  img and /img - surrounded by square brackets, no spaces, like this,  [ ]

Thanks I will try to learn the bb code.  Does everyone just come here and know that code?

   You don't really need to know the code...  Above the window you type into when creating a message, there should be a whole bunch of nifty buttons.  Hold your mouse pointer on any one of them, and a dialog box should pop up to tell you what it does. (You can usually guess by the button picture anyway.) 

   Click on a button, and the BB code you need will be inserted into your text window.  The form is usually <CODE> to turn on a format or whatever, then </CODE> to switch it off.  "CODE", of course, being replaced with the specific code in question, such as "B" for boldface, and the greater/less-than symbols being replaced with brackets.

   For images, you will need to host them somewhere else on the 'Net... Your own personal webspace, photoshack, etc.  Then you use the "IMG" code around the URL address to your image...

   For instance, I have a photo of a friendly, neighborhood police officer in Boston at http://rebel.onestop.net/polst07.jpg

   To insert this image into a board post, I'd enter the following, using brackets instead of greater/less-than symbols.

<center><img>http://rebel.onestop.net/polst07.jpg</img></center>

   And it'd come out like this...

   Click the "profile" button near the top of the page, then click Forum Profile Information in the munue on the left of the page that comes up.

hmmm I was curious on the same thing but when I get to my profile I've only a "personal text" option with no picture option.
