As someone who owns five Land Cruisers (yes, it is a sad addiction), I would buy a BJ60 in a freakin' heartbeat if I had the money.  That truck can go millions of miles.  I have a friend in Oz who has one with a million plus miles on it, no shit.  I also have friends who have had them here and also friends who have transplanted diesel engines into gas Cruisers.  They are set up for the international market, so it can be pretty easily done.  We don't get the good stuff here in the US.

I have a '77, a '78, an '81 (FJ40s) in various pieces strewn around in various stages of rebuilding/parting out, and two '87 FJ60s.  My FJ60s have over half a million miles on them between the two of them.  These trucks can go anywhere with minimal maintenance.  They are basic, tough, do not need to be modified (although it is very tempting to do so) to go places normal people would never think of going in a vehicle, and extremely reliable.  I have driven a Land Cruiser exclusively since September 1987.  I would have driven one earlier, I just could not afford one until I got my first FJ60 in 1987.  I still have it.

They are the perfect doomer vehicle.  No computers to worry about, they will rust away to nothing in the end.  I just had to send my 1985 FJ60 to the crusher (after removing the good bits) because it completely rusted out from sitting 30 feet from the Pacific for two years after 8 years of Maine winters.  Do you know how much bug out crap you can fit in a Cruiser?  TONS!

Yes, they are not fuel "efficient".  But, I don't drive it every day and I walk everywhere in town.  I would argue it has less of an environmental footprint than a Prius.

I would actually prefer an HJ60, which is the diesel version of the FJ60 (1981-87). A less electronic vehicle with the diesel mileage advantage. They were never sold in the U.S.A. They were sold in Canada. I see them on Canadian craigslist postings. They're usually rusted hulks. So, an FJ60 with the Cummins would top my list. I just think the one on eBay looks bad ass!

I have a diesel toyota 4x4 pickup that I'm going to sell. It gets 26 mpg and is
a turbo , so it moves pretty good. In other parts of the world they call these HILUX.
They only imported about 200 of these to the US, I'm told.
its an 85.
