by Brian Francis Slattery

I finished this book the other day.  Reads like Pynchon meets Tarantino in the near future.  I found parts of it scary, parts of it hilarious, and parts of it wisecrackin'.

The main character seems to come from another world.  Have my own theories about that, if anyone is interested, but I don't want to cause any spoilers.

The big issue in this book is actually slavery.  I went to Mr. Slattery's website and saw that he has a link to a site called "Free the Slaves," which notes that in today's groovy necronomy, there are at least 27 million people enslaved in the world.  (Conservative estimate?)

Not a lot of cannibalism in this book--that's a relief.  Phantasmagorical too--reminded me a lot of Vineland and The Crying of Lot 49.  But I also thought of Kill Bill and Inglorious Basterds in terms of Slattery's style.

All in all, molto-fun.

There was an added bonus for me too, as I live in Troy and work down the river in Albany, NY.  Splendid!
