I know that for supporting industries this is gonna stink...but really there is so much crap put out that I am unwilling to pay 10.00 to watch. How many cheesey chick flix, inane stupid dude movies and digital cartoons can people watch. Maybe it is not the credit crunch or the digital revolution but the lack of quality that is put on the big screen. Maybe fewer movies will mean a little better quality.

I thought movies did good during hard times?  I know back in the spring movie ticket sales were way up.

Maybe , but if the producers can't get the credit or investment to make a movie that is going straight to video then the movie does not get made.

Escapism does good during bad times. Video games are doing pretty well, all things considered. Additionally, people tend to have fast internet connections that can be used to watch a movie without Hollywood necessarily seeing a cent.

Oh woe, no more Rambo XIII, Chucky´s Great-Grandchildren, Tomb Raider IV, Harry Potter And The Umpteenth Return Of YOu-Know-Who, or Star Trek The Wrath Of Geriatric Fans.

Actually alot of films dont actually make it to theatres. Btw even though theatre gross is about equal to a bit above last year's, the sales of dvds is dropping like a stone. For many movies that is a huge part of the actual revenue after a theatre run. But really I always wonder why people even by dvds etc. Once Ive seen a movie I rarely watch it again.

Why do you think Paranormal Activity is busting all kinds of box office records despite being made for a mere $11,000?  Maybe because people are tired of paying $12 a ticket to see the SAME OLD SHIT over and over again.   Angry

ROTFLMAO!

Max that was priceless!

Anyway, you want escapism, go to the friggin library. Read a book, they are free for the borrowing...... OPPS, I'm making an assumption here that  you CAN read, right? Somedays it's hard to tell with the rank n file.
