I lost my sweet Senegal parrot, Lani Girl, 3 years ago. She was my best buddy for 6 years - when I got her she was around 3 so she was 9 when she passed - too young for these birds which usually live 25-30 years in captivity. The vet couldn't figure out why she died. She was fine until one day when she started looking puffed up and very quiet - normally you could never shut her up...unfortunately it was on a Sunday when the vet's office was closed. In the morning she looked better so I went to work(stupid) - later my roommate called me and said she was looking sick again, I said take her to the vet's stat, took the subway to the vet's office and by the time I got there she was dying.... my roommate handed her to me and she died in my hands. Cry I have always had birds in my life and I haven't gotten another one since Lani died. Every day I think about getting another one but with PO don't know if it's a good idea - hard to think of bugging out on foot carrying a parrot travel cage.  if I did get another parrot I would like to get a Quaker or Indian Ringneck since both of these species can survive colder temperatures - there are colonies of IRNs in London and Quakers right here in NYC. I believe there is another member who has a cute Pionus in her signature?

it's been about a month or so since I had to have my cat Snapper put to sleep due to kidney failure

my other cat is not adjusting well
when he sees me getting ready to leave for work
he starts crying and jumping all over the place
now he is sinking his claws into me every time I try to leave

just called the local shelter
gonna rescue a stray to keep him company
and save myself a fortune on antiseptic and bandaids Cheesy

as a side note
did anyone see the Hallmark Special
A Dog Named Christmas??

if it comes on again be sure and watch
have a box or two of kleenex handy
it's a real tear jerker
