Gotcher copy already, eh?  Care to elaborate on why this is a better book than his "novel?"  I've been curious, but the reviews I've read of the "novel" have really put me off.

thanks.

Cygnus, I haven't gotten Rawles' novel yet, so I can't compare.
What I like about Rawles' new book is the wealth of detail in one place.
For example, he gives his recommendations for garden sizes right at
the outset, leaving me with no doubt that an urban garden is worth
the time and effort. Another example is his handling of the problem
of expiration dates on canned goods. He recommends barter,
charitable donations, use as pet food and then conversion into
biodiesel in planning for unwasteful disposal of foodstuffs past their
prime. But he also mentions that canned foods past their expiration
lose only part of their nutritional value, mainly their vitamin content.
Calories, minerals, fiber content and amino acids last a lot longer than
vitamins. Rawles also  takes an overtly positive attitude towards
charitable giving, basing his approach on judeo-christian principles but
also on hard-nosed practicality. He insists that it will take 3 or 4 adult
couples to stand guard over a doomstead perimeter against looters
for any time longer than 2 or 3 weeks. Rawles insists this is based on
direct military experience.
Rawles' discussionof OTC antivirals I found particularly valuable. i
immediately added these to my preps.More valuable than gold.
