Mtlouie, why ever would they want to do that? What benefit is had by taking America to the brink of collapse or to allow it to collapse?

here's what I think.
I think that it's planned to slow down our consumption because of depleting oil supplies.
I've felt that 911 and the Iraq war, made sense only in the light of PO.
They wanted to slow us down and this was the way they chose to do it.
TPTB got to skim off the top with this financial mess, they got their money out and ran. Now, all that's left is for us to downsize to a point that it buys enough time to come up with an idea. LOL

The Iraq war makes sense in the light of PO for sure - invade and get control of one of the larger reserves of oil (especially one that maybe isn't in decline yet, because of the first war and 10+ years of 'sanctions').   Oh, yeah, plus it makes a great centralized place to build bases and launch attacks against other middle-east countries that "won't comply".

But maybe they're realizing that public support for bombing the fuck out of foreigners isn't going to be all that great (given the reaction to the existing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan), so now we have to nail our own public in the balls with demand destruction...

how long do you think it'll take of Americans losing jobs, slowly creeping down into poverty, unable to even feed themselves, before the people will be willing to say "bomb the fuck out of them if it get us oil and keeps the system going so we can at least eat"?

Never happen. Most people can't connect the dots out that far. Hence the saying "all politics is local."

We'll have food riots, sure, but not oil riots.

Thanks a lot, deniers. You have willingly participated in a multi-decade campaign to line the pockets of your corporate and governmental masters, resulting in the destruction of our civilization. BAU forever, eh? Fuck You very much.
