We cannot afford to despair. We cannot afford to give in. We have all heard this message for a reason, and by the very essence of seeing the threat coming, we have time to make SOME kind of plan.

And that gives us cause to hope.

It's sick reading through the comments to an article like that...and there's people who STILL defend the banks...as if they and their business practice is the savior to humanity.

Surely it must be the CONSUMER'S fault that banks OFFER those plastic cards to anyone and expect to be paid back ten-fold by everyone.

Consumers didn't create the game...we simply play it if it's available. It ain't our fault that the rules constantly change (usually NOT in our favor) and suddenly someone can't pay their bill.

I say tough shit for the banks. Shouldn't have been so damn greedy to begin with. It's a game of chance...and they lost. Sadly, they brought us down with them. Whether it's a CEO cooking up these ideas, or a consumer falling into the trap...bottom line is PEOPLE simply don't know any better. They ALL want something for nothing.

So, since we ALL took a game of chance, why is it the banks seem to think they deserve to be bailed out...they took a bet and lost!! Leave it at that!!

Huffington Post is a HUGE news site.  It is filled with payed trolls to make sure this kind of stuff doesn't hit a visceral link in the readers.

I couldn't agree more TAF!! I read through ALL those comments and thought "What a bunch of asshats...defending the banks" and then giving the old 'moral' argument. PLEASE!!! The SECOND any one of my cards (I HAD 3) pulled this crap I stopped paying. I called them and attempted to get back my old rates - you know hat happened with that. The last one, Chase, is threatening to sue for all of its 3k - big deal!! They also bring out the old "Your credit score will be hurt" or "You will be forced to pay legal fees". Ha!!! In a short time they won't be around anyway.

So now I screw them all and just use my debit card - if I don't have the $$$$ in there then I don't need the item.

The banks are doing it as well. I have an account with a small bank in the NW US called TD Bank North. I used to pay $4.95 a month for having the account. Nows its up to $15 a month. I called them and bitched, they refunded one months fee. I told them to cls the account and they want a notarized letter from me. Like I'm really going to pay $30 to a notary to get a letter to them stamped to get back the last $8.21.

This weekend I'm writing them a letter by registered mail, abandoning the account. If they come after my account in Canada, (they are linked electronicly) I'm going to close my TD Bank account and move all my banking to Bank of Montreal. FUCKEM!
