I just needed to vent a bit. I'm currently being treated for horrible blood pressure and anxiety. I've started on the drugs as it was so dangerously high there was no room to get it down quick enough other ways. Also started (again) on prozac. I was on it for years and it worked really well for me but this time around the side effects are just kicking the shit out of me. I'm at day 16 so i know its really only just starting to kick in.
Trouble is i'm jumping out of my skin! Cant sit still..cant concentrate...all twitchy and weird. I feel like i'm auditioning to play the lead in a Dennis Hopper biography...

This stage passed last time too but damned if i remember how long it took...any other prozac people out there??

*twitch*

I was on Paxil for many years, after trying Prozac for about a week. It made me so jumpy I was a total wreck. Have you tried Zoloft? It's one of the milder SSRIs.

No i haven't. Its what the dr originally wanted to put me on but as prozac had worked for me before i went with that..i remember this happening last time and the Dr saying "just hang in there..it'll pass" and it did. Just i dont remember how long it lasted!

I've had good luck with prozac. A friend of mine (female) was on paxil and had a 6 hour orgasm when she went off it. Wow--just wow.

That probably wasn't as much fun as it sounds.   Cheesy

Yes, about the same here ...... I'm not on any of those anymore, but if you're getting that reaction from Prozac you need to stop taking it immediately.  I also did well on it the first time, and then got the reaction that the drug company says doesn't happen.  IT TOOK MORE THAN A MONTH TO RECOVER AFTER I'D STOPPED TAKING IT!  Yes, you can become suicidal from it.

Just stop taking it and call your doctor for another appt, to get on another drug, preferably one that doesn't work the same way as Prozac.

This exact same thing happened last time and i did soldier on, and when it worked it worked great and the side effects faded away. Ive never been suicidal and am not even depressed. Its just the anxiety thats the issue

I remember Valium. Worked great with no side effects. Guess they don't make it any longer. . . . Sure can't manage to get anyone to prescribe it for me. Cry

Wouldn't take anything developed recently. Ibuprofen does a number on me, even.

Hope you get better soon.

You can ask for clonazepam for temporary use until the prozac does its thing.  It's not as addictive as other tranquies because it works more slowly.

You can also take Kava Kava tincture from some healthfood stores or online, but that only lasts maybe a half hour at most.

A milder herbal remedy than kava is a mixture of chamomile and peppermint tea, sipped as needed.  A bit of honey in it is nice.

Kind of sobering to discover that all my learning about peak oil etc may well be for nothing. Can't really see such a delcate wee flower as myself managing to survive frankly

Just another FWIW;

I was on zoloft for a while. Took a while to get the dosage dialed in, but
once it was, I was pretty surprised at the effectiveness of the drug.

So, I started reading about the how and why of why it works.

Eventually transitioned over to L5-HTP.

No longer on zoloft. the l5 htp may not be quite as effective, but
it's a damn site cheaper and doesn't mess with my equilibrium.

Of course the l5 htp is a lot more effective when I bother to take it.
