Well, in a manner of speaking:

College students appealing financial aid decisions in unprecedented numbers

The college/post grad tuition bubble has yet to burst, but the warning bells are ringing.

so ?

most college education is a waste . time to slim down and provide essential training for a fossil fuel scarce future.  then again fuck it throw more money at it , anything that causes the system to implode faster works for me  Cheesy

Agreed.  But the value and sanctity of higher education will be one of the last cultural myths to fall.  At least in some circles, i.e. the former middle class.  The rich will always afford to send their progeny off to get drunk and try to get laid.  Which, in hindsight, is the true purpose of college. (I had a lot more success at one versus the other  Grin)

I think the universities would lose half of their student population if that happened  Grin

and so they should.

College is really only necessary for a smaller percentage of the population; the academically talented.

It is a farce to pretend every corporate teamplayer's son or daughter is "smart" and "gifted."

it is a farce that a 13-16 education costs more than a k-12 education paid for out of local taxes. talk about price gouging . college is just a place to park a few percentage points worth of unemployment at their own expense.

That got me thinking. It seems like now a college/university degree is almost mandatory for most jobs high paying jobs. Or you need a certificate to do this or that and it would make a lot more sense to have that at lower tuition. However, the time spent in college and university keeps the population at an almost controlled rate for the job market to be able to absorb it (not accounting for technical colleges, where you can train to be a blood technician/lab assistant or communications, some of those courses only take 6 months to complete). Except that I think the market is fairly gimped and there isn't enough economic stimulus to keep it going.
