This list is posted for the benefit of newbies and lurkers, (most regular members will already be familiar with most of these acronyms).

Maybe one of the mods ought to make this thread sticky?  And copy it over to the Forum Rules section?  It's genuinely helpful, and took quite a bit of work, especially the bit about frequency of use.  Good job, GP!

Oh, and maybe there ought to be a note about how people's names tend to be abbreviated if they're any kind of long?  Especially JDD, his seems kind of important in the grand scheme of things.

POS:  Piece of Shit. Ex., "that Halliburton power plant is a POS"

I like it Max, but I can't find POS used any where else in this forum in the last few months.

I should have the criteria clearer in my original post, that I set myself, to determine whether an acronym gets included in this list.
1) acronyms specific to LATOC forum or not often found else where.
2) frequently used acronyms (to save newbies and lurkers the trouble of looking them up else where)

I know that there are a few acronyms in the list that are rather trivial or aren't used often.  I intend to weed those out eventually.

I had not originally intended to include abbreviations of forum members "handles", as suggested by HOT (houseoftang)  .  Perhaps I could make this a separate list.
BUT, I may make an exception in the case of JDD, because
1) he's got two votes (from HOT and Chip)
2) by my open ended frequency rating system, JDD scores 2.
3) he IS the boss
