Yes, 333 being half of 666.....

I saw it on a bumper sticker once.  Never mind.  It was supposed to be funny.

I got it the first time, Louie.  Smiley

Soooo....  666/2....  You're a male, 22, not in the army, but think more women should join up to learn self defense and help balance out all the testosterone that's already there.

Hmmm.

Nope.  Not for me, luv.  I'm pretty well set on the self-defense thing and have all the testosterone at home that I can handle.  Sorry.

333- Are you half evil?  Couldn't resist asking.   Smiley

Welcome to the forum.  I think.

Now are you a woman in the army, or a man in the army wishing there were more women in the army?

Half evil?

I just said more women should go for the Army, if they can. Just for many reasons. Self defence, more women in more male dominated areas

It would help the balance of power, the genders too.

And lastly, I am the guy in the pic. I'm twenty years old, and no I'm not in the Army.

There's so many things wrong this statement, I don't know where to begin. Balancing the genders doesn't mean women get to shoot off Iraqi (or insert any non-white nationality here) heads too alongside the men. Balancing genders doesn't entail women taking over (or entering) male-dominated fields, at least it is not at the core of the solution. Balancing genders means having an entire culture that is based on egalitarian values that respects the other genders as an equal, and we simply don't have that. The things you are suggesting are still women working from within a patriarchal paradigm and within such a system, women are setup to fail against men. So given all that, what happens when women force their way into the male-dominated arenas in society? They are raped, murdered, shunned, barred from ever moving up in ranks, etc. They make life miserable so she'll leave the boys club to the boys. Patriarchy simply will not stand for women invading their pissing territory. The percentage of rape and sexual harassment of women in the military is astounding. I did a paper on it in college. I'd give you links, but it's all on my other computer. But really, it comes up readily in Google.

I suspect your intentions are good. At least, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume such. But the problem is, you are not thinking outside the box enough on this one.

I have issues with women in the military and not for the reasons I hear misogynists and conservatives spouting. But because women are going in the wrong direction if it equality they seek. They will never find it by joining the war machine. They will only find violence and death.

Sorry, women and men won't be equals until 1) women are not required to wear black dresses and mantillas in the Pope's presence, and 2) the Pope is allowed to be and actually is female equally as long as male.  Until then, even the way money works won't change.

Undecided I tried. I am a supporter of full women's rights, I'm universal about these things.

I wouldn't mind of women could fight on my behalf.  Smiley Defence ofcourse, not pointless wars.

HAAAA!!!

thanks, for the laugh  Roll Eyes A supporter of full women's rights? So they can fight on your behalf?

piss off.

You don't seem to acutally have given much thought or research to feminism or womens rights issues.

Are you arguing for education to be made available in countries where girls are forbidden to go to school? Do you actively support  the reduction of domestic violence in your community? Do you support programs like Oxfam who run loan structures for women to start their own small businesses so they can support their families without having to resort to prostitution or starving? Do you protest about it? Take to your mates?

no...you want more women in the army, so they can do what you don't then have to...

and as for the "it's best if women did wear trousers"?

woohoo, another penis carrying member of the population telling me what is "best"  Roll Eyes

go away and do some research. Then come back. We'd welcome you with open arms then.

Thank you, Chickengirl for your well thought out post.  It made me think, and I agree with every point you made.

Perhaps, the curious researcher should start at http://finallyfeminism101.wordpress.com/2008/02/01/ff-acfp-the-military/.  There, you can read about "benevolent sexism" and "male privilege" and when you're done reading, then maybe an intelligent and reasoned and equal conversation can be had.
