I saw it last week when I should have watched the Lakers smoke the Magic.

All in all not a bad movie.  Nothing in it ought to surprise you if you have read the Omnivore's Dilemma.  Some pretty graphic footage of animals being slaughtered so don't bring the kids.  I had the misfortune of seeing it with a bunch LA "progressives" who have such incredible disconnect as to how meat actually gets to their plate.  (Gasps of horror at any picture of animal slaughter and the like.)

If you don't like Monsanto before seeing this movie well you will see them as the devil incarnate afterwards for trying to force their ersatz food down our collective throats by bankrupting farmers trying to save their seed.  If anyone needs to be strung up by the balls it would have to be the people at Monsanto and especially their lawyers.

It covers the gamut of food production in America today.  I personally would have enjoyed seeing more of Polyface Farms' operations in the movie but they only have so much time.

If you get a chance see this movie because in the off chance it is available for screenings near where you live it won't be around for long.

I was hoping someone would actually see the movie and give us a review
I'm glad that some people will see information about our corporate farming.
Unfortunately the main people who will see it - are people who already know or have grave concerns.
The major proportion of people will go see the latest escapism

Wordy - you're so right, the film will be preaching to the choir, so to speak.  I doubt that mainstreamers will be inclined to go see this film.  However, even if a few newbies wander into the theatre and get educated, its better than nothing...

Like the IOUSA movie.  I thought it was very well made but it was news I already knew and I suspect others in the audience were already aware as well.

Yep Dimmie, so true - I wonder what it would take to light the 'fire of desire' in the masses, to learn about these things   I mean, its your FOOD people!! 

Why don't people care that they are eating poisoned food everyday, and feeding it to their children, too?!

OMG, I saw Food, Inc. last night. What a tear-jerker. That's a 2 hanky job and no mistake.

And you are somewhat wrong; it is not entirely preaching to the choir. Those Latinos understood it. The ones whose father had diabetes, knew it was from eating junk food, but didn't feel they could afford to buy fresh fruit. So they were spending $130 a month on medications instead.

I adore bacon. It has long been the only meat we purchase from the supermarket. No more. I just put in an order for 10 lbs v. expensive organic bacon from my local organic farmer.

I just watched it last night. It was good, but nothing new really. Good production value though, very asthetically pleasing....aside from you know, the "food".
