The Kurds won't be trusting the US anytime soon.  Remember how we set them up for Saddam in the first Gulf War?

Our Turkish friends told us to butt out.  They don't want the Kurds on thier side of the border to get ideas.

yeah,  we screwed em good the first time.  got a lot of them into helping out in the "fight against the Baathist regime"  Roll Eyes , gave up everything they had over there... granted it was not much in the physical form for many... but many left behind their extended families and their whole culture to come here.   they certainly did not get what they were promised when they got here.  I worked with a coupla crews that came into Jacksonville, FL.. from Guam trying to help them assimilate into our society.   many of them wanted to go home and take their chances with saddam.... it was sad, really.

I'm sure they've not yet forgotten the fact that we left thier loved ones to get gassed by the Iraqi military.
