And yet, we (State of Calif) hired two new people this week. This is in a unit of 65, and I know that other Departments hired quite a few lately too.  I thought that there would be a hiring freeze by now, but I guess we need more people to administer the Obama stimulus package money.

Nobody here seems to worry about any budget problems, and we are a large Department who administers much of the State money.
