Well, thanks to one and all here at LATOC, and yeah, I'm really hoping this book gets out there and people READ it.

You all know how tough it is to get anyone to pay attention when you utter those fateful words: "Peak oil".

They scatter like cockroaches when the light goes on.

Chip - is there any process for you to offer autographed copies of your new book ?  Might you consider such a deal for LATOCers?  If we mailed you a copy (with a SASE), could (would) you autograph and return?

Yeah, I could do that! If anyone wants my autograph that bad, I'd be HONORED to make it happen!

Here's the address:

Make sure you inlcude, on a piece of paper, EXACTLY how to spell your name. PRINT IT PLAINLY. I've done a bunch of book signings for my other books, and I learned very quickly to NEVER assume that you know how that name is spelled. I haven't screwed one up yet, but I started out very cautious.

Peak of the Devil isn't up on Amazon yet, but you can contact the publisher through their web site for the book and tell 'em you want to order a copy direct from them:

Yeah, we've been watching the timing on this book release for quite awhile. Last summer, when oil and gasoline spiked so high would have been a great time to turn it loose, but it wasn't ready. This year has been relatively mild, so maybe we're not too late to ride the wave.

Of course, it could all hit the fan tomorrow.

(And we're still not quite ready.)

We'll see.

How about listing all of the suggested titles along with their order of attractiveness?

Sorry for the delayed reply here, folks- really busy at work AND fussing with a new computer. What fun!

So, let's see: As for lisitng all of the proposed titles, I think you can scroll back through this thread and read them. There really weren't that many, "Peak of the Devil" was suggested about 90 minutes into the contest, and honestly: It won immediately. What a GREAT title!

As for being on Amazon, yes, I'm sure it will be, but no idea when. You can also order direct from the publisher, Satya House. Here's their home page:

Now we just need to get this puppy OUT!

I think we'll stick with "Peak of the Devil" (seeing as how the book's cover is done).

This just in: The publisher has elected to hold off on releasing Peak of the Devil until spring of 2010. We both agreed it would be better to not rush it, take our time and make sure everything is right and have a change to give it a more seriously complete launch and PR campaign than just throwing it out there blindly and hoping for the best. And I'm good with that.

This gives me time to concentrate on my stage play through the winter.

Yeah, seriously.

Ok, some good news here: The publisher tells me I should see the proofs for Peak of the Devil next month, so we're still on track for a spring 2010 release- right about the time gas prices start climbing for the summer. Go team!

More good news: The delay has allowed me to include a thank you to Jon Kostiner (who posts on this forum) in the introduction of the book for the perfect title he suggested.

Again, thank you, Jon!

The latest: I am supposed to see the press proofs for Peak of the Devil next week, and the publisher tells me they are shooting for a Memorial Day (2010) release. Perfect timing, I think.

What fun!
