Loved this movie.  I have to admit, I love Moore's movies most of all because they are FUNNY- he's just got that gift.  But he got into some really disturbing stuff in this movie.  The "dead peasants" policies were puke-provoking.  And the "financial experts" trying to explain derivatives (they couldn't) were pretty epic.

One thing I noticed: Moore sounded angrier in this movie than he has in movies past.  He's started swearing, which I don't recall him doing before, and his final words were pretty outright exasperated.

I have to say that ive liked all of Moores moveis, ones that ive seen at least.  I have to say that this one seemed like it was quickly slapped together and in my mind simply made arguments against corruption, irresponsibility, and all and out stupidity rather than to effectively debunk 'capitalism', there were also wayyyyy too many aspects of our current mess that was left out and some things simply did not seem to have anything really to do with 'capitalism' (Judicial Corruption).

^I thought that, in terms of the judicial corruption case, he might have been saying that the free market, profit at all cost ethic encourages people into immoral, and at times illegal, activity.  It was a bit of a stretch- we do have laws in this country in addition to capitalism -but I thought it was a fair point.

This is something (Judicial Corruption) that can conceivably happen in virtually any system in various ways, he seems to be attempting to create a 'staw man' argument here, I kinda saw where he was trying to go with this but if there ever was a 'stretch' than this is it.

^I think the point he may have been trying to make is that getting the private sector involved in a public matter (juvie prisons) by hiring outside contractors to make and run the prisons, the corrupt factor was amped up.  Had the government been running the prisons, could this still have happened?  I don't know.  It's all pretty complicated.  I think Law and Order did an episode on this.  Cheesy

You could also say that the larger and growing presence of a centralized government expands and magnifies various effects that would otherwise be stopped without it (large centralized government), of course this depends if you're a glass half full or glass half empty kind of person.  An example would be the activity of providing cheap 'money' (Debit Derived) provided by a state originated and enforced source (ie. Federal Reserve) could allow for certain dynamics to arise in a system where it would have likely dissolved before it was able to get out of hand.

This guy has some very good videos to listen to reguarding stateist systems (He is a non stateist)

"Capitalism" is a catchy title, everything Moore has been saying in interviews and appearances makes it clear he is not actually against capitalism. And that sucks!!

Michael Moore, quote: "For Those of You on Your Way to Church This Morning...
You can't call yourself a Capitalist and a Christian because you can't love your money and your neighbor when you are denying your neighbor the ability to see a doctor."

Oh, fuck off.   Grin
Seriously: cheap, boring shot.
I love Moore's trademark schlumpy (is that even a word?  If not, it should be) outfit.
