Market Illusions vs The Reality of Capitalist Crisis, Patrick Martin. Great, till the end, when he slips into the recruitment mode.  Grin Sets off what's going on in the real world from the lies of "recovery" being pushed by the media and Team Obama, based upon the surge in stocks.

Another take on this is in today's edition of Clusterfuck Nation, The Coming Siege of Austerity,
http://jameshowardkunslter.typepad.com/clusterfuck_nation/2009/04/the-coming-seige-of-austerity.html
Good expression of outrage about the media/gov't lies, i don't know why he still thinks Obama can shake off his advisers and set a new course, though it seems his faith is wearing thinner by the week. Good thing.

Speaking of Der Kunstler, a few rants back when he spoke of an economy comprised of one household's sale of the entire contents of their garage to the family next door... damn, that was funny.

Yeah, well I wrote that to a friend about a year ago--the daisychain of garage sales, with everyone selling their castoff shit to each other.  Not, of course, that I wrote that here, but, hell, I wasn't even posting here last year.  Here as in on these boards, that is, which is--aw, fuck it.  But, yeah.  The Ultimate Ebay Circle Jerk.  Or something.

I'll gladly give you the point.  Kunstler already has his following.

PM - the Market Illusions vs The Reality of Capitalist Crisis article is good - a nice succinct outline of what we are really facing, thanks for the link.

Thanks, TropicalGirl, i do indeed like the listing of the real problems juxtaposed to the image of "recovery".

Thanks.  I liked your old avatar better.  My parents had a print on their walls of just that Buddha.

Kunstler's faith in Obama just goes to show how out of touch with reality he is. I can't take seriously a writer who doesn't grasp the fact that all politicians at that level are completely owned by the oligarchy and will not do a damn thing their puppet masters don't tell them to do.

I wouldn't say Kunstler still has total faith in Obama, it's more like he's at the stage where he's going "Say it ain't so, Joe (or Barack)"

If he EVER thought that Obama would be different from all the rest then he is obviously delusional. Anyone who thinks that our political leadership is going to do anything useful whatsoever is obviously delusional. All politicians are the same because they are all bought and paid for by the same people.
