http://www.captnzilog.net/doomers/

there is a long list of resurrected cached threads here.  they will need to be gone thru and the links pulled and copied back to here if you guys want to do it.

we just have to make sure copyrighted materiel is not brought forward to here.  i brought up and edited two of them.  but it doesn't look very professional.  so there you go and now  you  have   it.

i am sure that more of these will be forthcoming for people wishing to save any info or anything off of them.

The "doomindex" page will rebuild approx every 10 mins, with whatever has been grabbed off google since the last time.
Its just cranking away, starting from about Sept 26th, up until end of March (about 6mo's worth).

V - edit:  its far from perfect Pamela, google cache doesn't have all of it, and may even have one page but not others of a particular thread.  Not sure how it decides what to cache. And I have to limit how fast I hit it - or google will block me for, well, 12+hrs last time.  So, to get that 6mo's of stuff, as much as it can anyways, this things gonna be running for about 8 days.    Oh well, at least it automatic... not like that machine does much else than host my website anyways.

it's all cz's baby.  i didnt do anything but bring it to everyone's attention.  i couldn't do any of that geek/guru stuff if my life depended on it.  i am techno challenged big time. all i know is self taught just by playing with the puter.

cz is doing ALL the work and taking time to find these.  credit where it's due.

well wow cz! thank you very much.
there was some concern before about having lost some good informative posts from Robert and Jeremie and Seahorse. This is a great help and very nice of you to do.

I went back and filled in 40000-42000 (pretty much the month of March, Feb28th - Mar29th) so we should have the more recent/relevant posts.

Back to running 30000-39999 now, basically Nov 4th - Feb 28th...  I tweaked the "sleep" time between batches of 5 requests down from 3mins to 2.5mins, which adds about 20 requests/hr - from about 100/hr to 120hr - doesn't seem like "a lot", until you figure in 24hrs that's an increase of 480/day, which should help speed it up a little bit.   I may try tweaking that down to 2 mins tonight, but since I'm risking being 'blocked' by google if I go to fast, and they seem to block for the rest of the day (given my experience last saturday), I'll wait to try that until late tonight (like 10PM or later) so if I do get blocked it won't be that big of a loss in time...

Many thanks cz, that was so above and beyond the call of duty.

Cz has very kindly allowed me to download the results of his marathon session recovering lost files so if anyone desperately needs to find a purged thread let me know as many details as possible and I'll give it my best shot at locating it.

If there wasn't 2000 miles of ocean between us I'd be buying him a few beers.

Good Lord....

cz, you're either in for some trouble or you're getting promoted to "Archivist of Doom".

I vote for Archivist.

Not that a vote means anything....

I agree with the others - THANK YOU cz! I already used the archive when I was looking for an old discussion/explanation to expand a topic some of us were having on Tinfoil. I found the deleted pages quite easily because I knew the approximate date. It was wonderful to link back to those pages in the current thread so we could refresh our memory on what had already been shared. Your generous work is much appreciated!

Smiley

Well, my index program "broke" because of too many files Tongue ... I'm gonna rewrite that, I have everything I could get back to "0", but the index still has 20000 on.  I'll try and get that done this week, just been swamped at work the past 2 weeks.

**update/edit 5/8**

Didn't even realize I had left a broken index out there before - but, doomindex.html works again, and has links to all the recovered files with the topic# & title.

**update 6/5**
One of the fans is dying in my server (kept hearing this squeaking sound, spent 20 mins thinking it was a mouse or something in the house before realizing it was the machine Cheesy), so I shut it down last night.  I have a spare fan, so hopefully I'll have it back up this weekend when I get a chance to pull it out from under the desk and look at it.
