Al Czervik: i'm sure this is an innocent mistake on your part, but i wasn't saying that "we" (ie the US gov't) are not at war with Pakistan, i was commenting on that totally ridiculous statement made by mos6507.
And i said "we" here because the US gov't hasn't really represented "the people" in any way in a very long time, over a century.

I shake my head with absolute astonishment and my mouth hangs gaping. Good lord.
No you can't have your next fix, but you can sure smell nice while going through all those nasty withdrawals. I really do not mean to poke fun, but open your mind - a serious reality check is needed.
One of the reasons the Taliban is so hated by the USA government is that while in power they put a virtual stop to all the heroin trade.

without getting poltical let's not get too heavy on obama or george before..

face it when push comes to shove they pretty much do what they are told..

currently the 'goldman sachs' types pretty much have us all by the balls..

obama knows it.. he and we must accept they're going to try hang us by ours Angry

The Soviets occupied Afghanistan in the 80s; the Taliban ruled Afghanistan in the mid-to-late 90s.

From what I know, the Taliban came from the mujahedeen who fought against the Soviets. Later, they took over after the Kabul government fell. The U.S. probably supported them through Pakistan.

When they took over Kabul, the US gov't (via Madeline Albright) said they had no problems with it. Leading Taliban were brought to Texas in '97-8 to negotiate with Union Oil execs about a pipeline route, negotiations went on till Summer '01. Zalmay Khalilzad, US ambassador to Afghanistan after the occupation began, worked as a "consultant" for Union Oil(later was ambassador to Iraq and then the UN), as did Karzai.

obama needs to cut back on these hour+ long 'pep rally type' monologues re-explaining
again the whole financial mess in his 'financial systems explained for dummies" format..

imo.. pretty much more of the same old same old attempt of brainwashing the
nation by 'white'washing our worries right out of our hair.. it's all just bulllcrap..
