I'm no "extreme pacifist". The US is at war with the people of Pakistan, and the fact that the gov't of Pakistan is siding with the US doesn't change that fact any more than it did back when the gov't of "South Vietnam" (a fictitious entity) sided with the US in its war on the people of Vietnam. The war has nothing to do with "terrorists" and "extremists", it is about control of access to oil and gas, heroin, and (most of all) US domination of Central Asia and consequently Eurasia, a key to world domination,

Brzezinski is refreshingly honest even if brutal.

Refreshing Picasso. Smiley Most people on these forums are in Denial of the way the world and our country truly work.

Indeed. And thanks picasso moon for making the points I would have on this thread, albeit with more depth and eloquence.

He's just a professional politician - a fine nose for power, and skill in manipulating public perception.

If the best he's got is to appear ignorant while the banks gorge themselves on taxpayers' money, that speaks volumes.

I'm enjoying it though as more people realize Obama isn't the quick fix they'd imagined.

"Change you can believe in."

There is no oil and gas in Pakistan.  We are actively destroying the poppy fields there, and your link to global research reveals your tinfoilhood.

I'm guessing that the writer has not heard of the $1.6 quadrillion derivatives market.

Blatantly wrong. Read the 3rd paragraph:

U.S. May Expand Anti-Militant Efforts To Baluchistan

If you haven't learned about the relationship between drugs, the CIA, and Wall Street by now, perhaps you should spend less time trusting the mainstream media which you insist on parroting.

Tinfoil.

This is representative of what's really going on there regarding the drug scene.  You see only what you want to see.

Poppy crop dropped to very low levels in '01, rose right away after the US invasion, and has now reached a record. If this is "destroying the poppy crop", i hate to see them furthering it.  You are the tinfoiler.
As for oil and gas, the key is transport routes, pipes crossing Afghanistan from Central Asia to the port of Gahwar in Balouchistan. In addition, there are all the bases in Afghanistan and Pakistan sitting in a dominant position right between the Middle East oil fields and the Central Asia oil fields. Not to mention their location strategically vis-a-vis China and Russia.
As for the article about Brzezinski's Grand Chessboard, you are trying to denigrate it because of the site it is posted on. It was originally posted elsewhere, Ruppert is not part of Global Research, and most of the words are by Brzezinski himself.  What i see here is someone trying to hide information by calling it tinfoil. Yep, nothing to see here, just MoveOn.  Classic disinfo tactics.

As if we can be  only a little bit at war with Pakistan. "We're not really at war there, we're just firing missiles and killing them". The Obama team has made it quite clear, it's now the Afghanistan/Pakistan Theater, Af-Pak for short. Petraeus, Gates have used the term. Say, wasn't Gates also Dubya's sec of war? Grin

And wasn't Gates the CIA director under George HW Bush?
Obama may be Marcus Aurelius compared to Bush-Cheney's Caligula, but we're still living in an Empire, and the same players are calling the shots.

Brzezinski bragged in January '98 about initiating the Islamic insurgency in Afghanistan in Summer '79 in order to drag the Soviet army into the country and trap it in a quagmire,
http://www.globalresearch.ca/articles/BRZ110A.html
Before any tinfoil remarks, this is an interview from Le Nouvelle Observateur, a French paper, with Brzezinski.
And Gates, CIA asst director, confirmed it.

Got a mirror?

Thanks picasso moon for yet more clarity on all these issues. Lots to learn here for those with open minds.

We're not at war with Pakistan.  The government of Pakistan is on our side.

The power of perfume? You are kidding right mos? Surely you can't be that stupid. I always thought you were an asshole but to think that perfume is going to rock the world market over heroin is absolutely classic. Cheesy  Cheesy Cheesy
