This thread was started by Matt (who by the way owns the forum) to give a very gentle warning that thunderdome behaviour in the gardening forum will no longer be tolerated.

This is gardening and for most of us means a small scale thing and exchange of useful information. At least that's the way it was.

Now I don't care who I upset by deleting posts, moving them, whatever but this stops in here as of now, if you don't like it go elsewhere.

This subforum is now returning to our normal schedule.

Basically, I want you to "shove it" Or at least bring it down several orders of magnitude. Yes, yes, I know (and so do most people) that most everybody (yes, including us city dwellers) is going to starve out quickly and that planting a garden is pointless or near pointless in the face of what is coming. Okay, okay, WE FREAKIN' GET IT ALREADY. Now let people discuss their gardening efforts in peace.

Put it this way: pretend we're on the Titanic. We aleady KNOW that 9/10 of us are going to drown or freeze when the ship goes down and that being a good swimmer probably won't matter too much. But some folks would llike to head down to the ship's pool in the meantime and work on their swimming and water treading techniques none the less on the off chance it *might* make some type of differences.. So let them go ahead and do it, we don't need you standing there letting everybody know "you guys do realize that when the ship really goes down you're going to drown, and that's if you even manage not to be cut in half as you slide down the deck once the ship is bobbing up and down in the water . . ." Yeah we know, now kindly "stfu" in regards to reminding us.

This thread I"m making a sticky. The gardening forum is one of the forum's better features and I'll be damned if it's going to be overrun with hostility.
Yeah, no pissing in the pool while I'm doin' laps!

Good post, Matt!

Thank you JDD.

I don't know about the rest of you but I tend to come here during a break from work, hoping to maybe learn something, contribute something, get some ideas, share some ideas - and maybe even be inspired.

I can understand some acrimony and nastiness in breaking news, financial news etc, not that I enjoy it, but some the people on this board seem well - particularly tense, uptight and even aggressive individuals  - and when you mix that with politics, I guess it's inevitable it will get ugly at times....but in the FREAKING GARDENING SECTION?Huh  Cry me a river.

Can we talk about me?

Dad and I fenced off my garden area and now the geese are "mowing" it
for me. Not as good as pigs, but not bad either. I'm still getting frosts
here, so I haven't done any planting.

My garlic looks amazing, and I've gotten 2 goose eggs.

I found a free canning class at the library tonight!

Cheers, M
