Mr. K covers the basic points of designing a passive solar home and has enough facts and figures to impress anyone.  However, it is written for the layman, so despite the science he discusses, you can't really design a functioning home with it.  You can get in the ballpark, but you will still need an engineer and a good general contractor.

The tone is dry and even a sponge-like reader like me couldn't stand to actually READ the book.  I don't recommend it unless you ar ein the early stages of actually planning and designing a new passive solar home.  If you are simply looking to add some passive solar features to your existing home, the free information available on the internet is just as useful.
