I want to build one, or at least download the info,
but my hard drive is dying,
I read it and mostly remember how it is done,
it looks like it would be hard to connect to my computer controlled car,
what octane equivalent is the wood gas ? anyone have fuel maps for it ?

Old cars will take this technology better:

I'm no expert on woodgas, but I suspect the power output dynamics of woodgas which is a complex and variable mixture of gasses does not equate well to being expressed as an octane rating. This Site says:

Quote
Assuming that the engine modifications described above are correctly implemented, decrease in maximum power output of petrol engines without turbo or supercharging can be limited to about 30 percent. Turbo or supercharged combustion running engines on producer gas can have power outputs equal to those in petrol operation.

Forced induction will give more power - But I'm assuming would use more fuel. Megasquirt would be worth investigating if you're interested in fuel injection, although I suspect carbs would be more appropriately low tech for Doomer transport like this  Grin

Thanks, Filterfeeder...this would make the IDEAL unit for firing a steam engine. I think I'll make one. I'll see if I can get some pictures and do two of 'em - one with the boilermaking bits and the other with the "to-hand" stuff.

HMMMM...good work.

The Oil market, like all markets, has two modes:

#1. Buy on rumour, sell on fact;

#2. Buy on fact, sell on rumour.

The New York Mercantile Exchange has two ways of assessing the "facts and rumours":

#1. Superiority-driven hubristic arrogant complacency;

#2. Blind Panic

my car is turbo, fuel injected and computer controlled.
subaru WRX in case you are wondering, all it takes is one ping to kill the engine.
I think I should get another car to play with.
