This is crazy. Earlier this month I was trying like hell to keep my plants from freezing... today I'm double watering everything to keep my newly planted bushes and vines from drying out as the temperature is approaching 90 degrees. And it hasn’t rained appreciably in about two weeks. The farmers tilling and seeding their fields like it that it is drying out and allowing them to get planting done. But if this keeps up it could get pretty dusty driving on I57.

"The Garden Froze Again" by Justin O'Quinn of Spring Hill, TN
(To tune of Willie Nelson's "On the Road Again")
As sung on 'A Prairie Home Companion' Annual Poetry Contest

The garden froze again
Springtime is here the garden froze again
The life I love is puttin' plants into the ground
But I can't wait 'n the garden froze again
The garden froze again
Bein' the same way that I've always been
Weather channel warns me time and time again
But I can't wait 'n the garden froze again
The garden froze again
Like a band of junkies we run to the home store
Buy more plants again
Insisting that a freeze won't happen no more
But once more
The garden froze again
Springtime is here the garden froze again
The life I love is puttin' plants into the ground
But I can't wait 'n the garden froze again
Garden froze again
Like a band of junkies we run to the home store
Buy more plants again
Insisting that a freeze won't happen no more
But once more
Garden froze again
Springtime is here the garden froze again
The life I love is puttin' plants into the ground
But I can't wait 'n the garden froze again
But I can't wait 'n the garden froze again

Just thought I'd say hi Bruce. I know I57 and Cumberland County somewhat. I have sister in that area.
The fields out where I live are ok. We've been getting rain fairly regularly. A couple storms have passed us by but enough hit that things are fine.

major drought last year, no rain for forever. no hay or grass to be had almost everywhere.

this year is raining 3-5 days per week at least some.  can't cut hay, weeds growing out of control,

no happy medium in sight

Yeah, I spoke too soon. It has rained fairly regulary the last few days but not too much as to stop me from putting in the last of my grapevines. The corn is starting to sprout in the fields around me and everything is looking oh so green. I just harvested some morels from the forest next me and had a dinner fit for a king. Life is looking good right now.
