Ya'll are posting repeat stories faster than I can merge them.
We don't need 3 joe horne threads or 3 patient dies threads.

Ask yourself, is this breaking news or general topic!

I would submit that the problem lies with the limits on threads per page.  What is it like 20 threads per page ( I haven't counted)?  It's too difficult to go back 2-3-5 pages to see what's been posted.

So, if perhaps, the thread/page count could be increased to say 50, that would help the problem.  As well as posters trying to read for duplicates, of course.

There's a search function at the top of the page. Use it.

Yeah, anyone else besides me want to comment on how (poor) that search function works?

Some folks don't even look at all. We're talking right on the first page,
sometimes even next to each other.

I know it's not always the case, but often we get duplicate threads because the headings are a bit vague.

I'm just sayin'.

I think this request would be more effective if you started a couple similar but not quite identical threads about the topic.

You know, someone needs to post a thread about all these silly repeat threads. It's almost like people don't even read the first post or even the title sometimes.  Grin

Well, how many ways can you say "We may or may not go to war with Iran" or "Is Peak Here"?

i just moved all the indy mac, freddie and fannie, and wachovia threads to the financial doom section.  THAT is where bank failures and stuff like that belongs.  i should just merge all of them together but since there are so many of them it would be confusing as hell to figure out who was commenting on what thread.

also i move stuff to off topic quite a lot.  that doesn't necessarily mean the humor part of that category, just off topic.

PLEASE THINK ABOUT WHERE YOU ARE POSTING YOUR THREAD STARTER "BEFORE" YOU POST IT.

the location of the thread starter is just as important as the content and topic
