I gotta admit that I have knit some baby stuff using good old Redheart. Some stuff for my first grandbaby is still going strong. She`s in her mid 20s, and the great grandbabys are using her blankets and sweaters. That stuff wears like iron. Cheesy
In fact I still wear a sweater that I knit 20 years ago with it. And, it was washed probably 2-3 times a week, when I was working.

That's very impressive. I've got an afghan in it that shows no sign of wear, but it's only a couple of years old.

Okay, I'm psyched.

A friend has a friend with a Majacraft Suzie spinning wheel for sale. It's two-years old and rarely used. She wants $500 for it so she can upgrade to a Rose. I'm hoping this is a good deal, and I'm also hoping she might take $400 or $450 for it.

I'm going on Tuesday to my friend Ruth's house to try out hers to see if I like it. She's in a guild that meets monthly at Malabar Farm. There's also a "just spinners" group that meets monthly, too.

Any thoughts, tips, insights about this kind of wheel?

Does anyone have a pattern for a headband/ear warmer with a large cable running right round it? I saw one in alpaca at the market yesterday and thought it would be fun to knit so I bought some wool, but I can't find a pattern and I don't think I'm good enough to make one up.

Not quite what you're looking for, but you could modify the pattern to go the other way -

Or just do the band for this one -

kmaine2 was working on a really pretty headband that buttoned in the back and she was using Nori - they were so cute!  I will try and find out what the pattern is - wanted to make some myself since they seem so practical and easy.

I am now on my third one of thesehttp://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter06/PATTcalorimetry.html

And I have one more skein of Noro for one of thesehttp://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter07/PATTquant.html

Enjoy. They are very fun to make and I can get one made in a couple of evenings. They are a nice quick knit for Christmas presents.

wow, cool.  i love that y'all knit.  i do, too.   Smiley

i crochet, as well, though more amigurumi than practical pieces so far.

i'm currently working on knitting some felted/fulled boxes that are actually quite fun to make, got one down, working on a smaller one.

glad to meet some folks who enjoy it as much as i do!    Cheesy

Tis Norohttp://www.noroyarns.com/v2/en/html/home.html

I used Noro Kuryeon. One skein was all the calorimetry needed.

Thanks! Actually I have some hand-spun wool from local sheep and alpacas. (Some of it dyed with KoolAid; no wonder that stuff won't come out of the carpet!)

Thanks.
