Would anyone recommend how to preserve veggies and use the seeds from last year? I have a pile of tomatoes that have been sitting outside all winter which are kind of flat and mushy now, but I could pick out the seeds at this point. Would it be correct to do this now put them in a dark area or just plant them directly into the soil next month?

If they've been out all this time, then probably you can pick them out, rinse them, and dry them. Tomato seeds need to get slimy, like they do in nature as the tomato rots. So if they've been out they've probably already been through this process.

Abosolute, I can take a picture of the pile and if I figure out how to post a picture into a post then I'll do it.
Cheers.
