John of Patmos, got it.  This was not the baptizing John, right?

Did a little reading.  Nobody really knows who this John was.  Are you sure he was not using meds or Etoh, Broil?  So why do you ascribe so much faith in this unknown prognosticator, and not our more local and temporal ones?  What is the deal here, Broil?

The author was John of Patmos, who most believe was John the Apostle - but I tend not to believe that.

I don't know that I would want to hear someone "shred" Revelation.  I don't believe it was inspired by God, that's why I called it a novel.  It may be that the author considered it to be a genuine revelation from God, but he might knowingly have made it up.

As an author, Cormac McCarthy admittedly takes some getting used to.  His style is, shall we say, unique.

Good.  There are many who take it as the word of god.  But yes, literature is one of the levels all of the bible can be read as.

Broil, I was not referring to Revelations.  You made a suggestion on another thread that I added to my library list only to discover it was a bible reference.  Sorry I can't remember what is was and I just searched for 20 minutes and can't locate.  You also suggested Canticle for Leibewitz.  Thank you, I enjoyed it.

::)Sorry Broil.  It was The Apocalypse by John of Patmos that I searched for.  Now just imagine someone roaming around their library searching in vain for the author Patmos and then going to the computer searching, searching and then realizing what an idiot I was.  At least it merits a laugh, don't you think? I wasn't being sarcastic or making fun either, but I was trying to get your take on Revelations.  Some get rather rabid.  You seem sane.  Sorry if I gave the former impression.  And, unfortunately, I can be a bit unclear at times.

No problemo, graveday!  I've been a bit cranky lately.

Not too bad, I found the accumulation and recording of historical data rather interesting.

Sorry for the shameless self-bump, but we have a lot of newbies who may not have seen this thread before.

I keep hoping I'll run into a new top 10 favorite.  No luck so far, but American Apocalypse by NOVA wasn't bad.  Would have been better had it been professionally edited rather than self published, but still pretty much in touch with what we say on these boards.  Wonder if the author hangs out here.   Smiley

Thanks Bill.  I worried that your persona had changed with your avatar.  Glad to know you still hang out here.
