Folks,

Just added this sub-form as there seem to be a lot of newbies and a number of long-time forum members have suggested a new sub-forum for people to introduce themselves. Some folks had suggested locking newbies in the Thunderdome and seeing how they could handle it but that just seemed a bit extreme.

Yes this is very nice and friendly, but how about a new sub-forum for useful links, I see that Lady-T ( I am sorry if I have the wrong name mea culpa)  put all her wonderful links into one thread and made it sticky, but how about a forum where when someone discovers a useful link it can be posted and we can cut throught all the b*shit.  As for some of the new names I see being registered I think have either two really infantile alpha males trying one up MAN/BOY ship or a troll invasion on it's way either will be very entertaining but I am still at the panicking stage and I would really like the useful information now.

There are porno/viagra spammers and there are folks playing inside jokes.  Wink

Welcome to the Hotel Newbiedome.

You can check out anytime you like, but you can NEVER leave......

unless you get yourself booted.

@JDD
Perhaps we could assign someone to come and taze... er, I mean haze the newbies when they first enter?  You know, break em' down, isolate them, wipe their memories and offer them no hope of rehabilitation.... oh wait.... sorry.... I'm channeling Gitmo.

Hi all,
I've enjoyed the discussions here for a while and decided to come out of my nutshell and join -- there is a lot of good information here, and good to know there are others who are preparing for the inevitable energy/economic/social changes to come. I have been aware of peak oil for a number of years and have had a lifelong interest in camping, backpacking, sailing, learning about self-sufficiency, and generally trying to live without a lot of plastic pumpkins. Just about everyone that I know (make that everyone) seems to think that things will roll merrily along forever, and I just have to shut up because they already think I'm a wingnut Wink.

I will look forward to learning more here, and perhaps throwing in a .02$ here and there.

Thanks ...

Hello All, I "came out" of lurk-mode on another thread a few days ago.  Happy New Year, assuming we get our ducks in a row immediately.  If not sooner.

I'm a newbie looking for some wisdom regarding self-sufficiency.  I've been reading on this site for about 3-4 months 4-7 times a day.  Momma told me "it's a jungle out there."  I just never thought the future of the jungle would be so scary, especially if I had a decent paying job and stayed away from drugs!  Thanks Matt for all of your hard work!  Anyone plugging for RON PAUL on here?

Ryan O'Leary.

Bellingham, WA (US) native and college student.

Brought to lifeaftertheoilcrash.net by a friend.

Owner of "Crude Awakening."

Curious about recent developments in solar/battery technology (and their ability to "retrofit," which I'd be more or less pessimistic about).

Also curious about what 2008 might look like (is this a dumb request?) in terms of peak oil/energy crisis development.

Use my email if you'd rather not use the thread, as I check my email MUCH more often.

Hi.
